Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your use of the For Us app and website. By creating an account, accessing the service, or using For Us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You may use For Us only if you can legally enter into these Terms. Each account belongs to one person and may be paired with one partner account at a time.

Your account and security

You are responsible for activity occurring through your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your credentials. Tell For Us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization. For Us may take reasonable steps to protect the service, including suspending access where necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats.

Your content

You retain ownership of the journal entries and other content you submit to For Us. You grant For Us a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, store, reproduce, process, and display your content only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the service and to perform the features you request or separately authorize.

Where you separately consent to AI-assisted processing, you authorize For Us to process your journal content as described in the Privacy Policy to generate shared features, including shared sessions created from both partners' entries. For Us does not claim ownership of your journal content.

Shared sessions

For Us may generate summaries or other shared-session content from both partners' private journal entries. A shared session is intended for the two partners together. Your partner does not receive your raw journal entry unless you independently choose to disclose it to them.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: access another person's account without permission; attempt to obtain another user's private journal entries; interfere with or disrupt the service; reverse engineer or circumvent security measures except where prohibited by law; upload malicious code; use For Us to harass, threaten, exploit, or harm another person; use the service for unlawful purposes; or use the service in a way that violates these Terms or applicable law.

Subscriptions, trials, and purchases

Journaling may be offered for free. Certain features may require a paid subscription. Pricing, subscription duration, renewal terms, applicable free trials, and billing terms will be shown before you subscribe.

Subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed and managed through the applicable store and are subject to its terms and policies. Cancellation and refund procedures may be governed by the applicable app store's rules.

Changes to the service

For Us may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features from time to time. We will provide notice where required by law. If a material change substantially affects a paid subscription, we will provide any notice, credit, refund, or other remedy required by applicable law or the applicable purchase terms.

Not therapy or emergency care

For Us is a space for reflection and connection between partners. It is not therapy, medical care, mental health treatment, or a substitute for a licensed professional. For Us does not provide emergency services. If you or someone else is in immediate danger or experiencing a crisis, contact appropriate emergency or crisis services in your area.

Intellectual property

The For Us app, website, software, branding, logos, designs, and other materials provided by For Us are owned by or licensed to For Us and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited right to use the service under these Terms, no ownership rights are transferred to you.

Feedback

If you voluntarily provide suggestions, ideas, or feedback about For Us, you grant For Us permission to use that feedback without restriction or compensation, provided that doing so does not identify you or disclose your private journal content unless you have authorized that disclosure.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy and Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy describe how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information and consumer health data. Those policies are incorporated into these Terms by reference to the extent applicable.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using For Us and delete your account at any time. For Us may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the service, enforce these Terms, prevent fraud or abuse, comply with law, or address a security risk. Account deletion follows the 30-day grace period described in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, For Us is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. For Us does not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or available. We disclaim warranties to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, right, or remedy that cannot legally be excluded.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, For Us and its officers, directors, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless For Us and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights. This provision does not apply to the extent prohibited by applicable law.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your country of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, to the extent local law permits that choice. Before filing a formal legal claim, the parties should attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute through the contact process at support@theforusapp.com. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from exercising rights or bringing claims that cannot legally be waived or restricted.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will update the date above and provide notice in the app or by another appropriate method where required. Your continued use of For Us after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms presented for specific paid features, constitute the agreement between you and For Us concerning your use of the service, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
